Fentanyl, Heroin Targeted in Drug Sweep

Fentanyl, Heroin Targeted in Undercover Sweep

Oct 25, 2018 | 11:05 AM

RCMP have arrested more suspects in connection with an undercover operation earlier this year aimed at drug trafficking in Vernon.

Three men were arrested back in July in connection with the selling of heroin and fentanyl to undercover Mounties, and now another six people are facing charges

“Of the arrests made, 9 males, all from Vernon BC, are facing charges for allegedly trafficking a heroin/fentanyl mixture and fentanyl. A 43 year old female, Johanna Pauliuk remains outstanding and is wanted for two counts of drug trafficking resulting from the undercover operation,”says media relations officer Kelly Brett.

Sgt. David Evans of the Targeted Policing Unit says the project was  successful in targeting street level drug trafficking.

“We specifically targeted the sale of fentanyl, which is causing a significant public safety risk. All the drugs purchased by the undercover operators were fentanyl or fentanyl mixed with heroin,”says Evans.
