Postal Strike Reaches Okanagan

Postal Strike Reaches Okanagan

Oct 24, 2018 | 12:19 PM

Residents in the Central Okanagan won’t be getting any mail today.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers Kelowna local started a 24 hour strike at 6 am this morning, part of rotating job action around Canada by the union.

The action impacts as far north as Lake Country, but not Vernon.

Toronto is also part of the rotating action today.

The postal workers say they want better wages and working conditions.

The federal government has appointed a special mediator to try and find some common ground in the labour dispute at Canada Post.
