Kin Beach Closed

A popular recreation site in Vernon has been closed.

Several trees were blown down on Kin Beach overnight due to strong winds that reached 87 km-h.

“As a result of recent high winds and significant tree damage, Kin Beach will be closed until crews can remove debris from the park and assess the condition of the remaining trees,” says a City of Vernon release. “Work is expected to be completed prior to the weekend.”

The beach is expected to host the city’s Canada Day fireworks show the night of Sunday July 1.
