Kelowna Police Find BMW In Hit and Run

UPDATE at 5:21 p.m.

Kelowna RCMP report the BMW involved in a serious crash with a pedestrian has been located but not the person who was driving it.

Police say the driver has yet to be located or identified at this time.

The RCMP Forensic Identification Unit along with the RCMP Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are currently en route to the scene, says a spokesperson.

The pedestrian remains in serious condition at the Kelowna General Hospital.

A portion of Rutland Road North between Fitzpatrick Road and Wallace Road remains closed at this time, as investigators secure the collision scene.

Kelowna RCMP are appealing for witnesses after a male pedestrian was struck by a car this afternoon.

They say the driver failed to remain at the scene.

Police were called around 2:30 p.m. to the crash site on Rutland Road North, near Klassen Road, where they found a seriously injured male, unconscious and on the road.

An ambulance rushed the injured person to hospital for immediate medical treatment. His current condition is described as serious, says an RCMP press release.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, a navy BMW, was last seen driving eastbound on McCurdy and that vehicle will have front end damage and a broken windshield.

A portion of Rutland Road North between Fitzpatrick Road and Wallace Road was closed, as investigators secured the collision scene and awaited the arrival of a collision analyst of the RCMP Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS).
