Referendum Needed For New Lake Country Fire Hall
Lake Country council is moving forward with plans for a new fire hall to replace the current decades old building on Okanagan Centre Road East.
Council Tuesday gave three reading to a loan authorization bylaw for a referendum to borrow money towards the cost of the new building.
Mayor James Baker says it will be a simple question during the civic election in October.
“As a referendum question it’s do we have authorization to borrow 6.6 million to build a fire hall. It’s a yes or no. The payback is over 20 years.”
