Canada’s 151st Celebrated In Park

The stage is set for Vernon to celebrate Canada’s 151st birthday.

The local Canada Day society has received all the necessary approvals from the City to host its day-long event in Polson Park July 1st, followed by fireworks from Kin Beach that night.

Council’s liaison on the committee, Scott Anderson, says all the popular activities will be back.

“It’s going to be pretty much like last year with possibly more vendors and a slightly expanded program schedule.”

The City provides items like porta potties, and on site traffic control for the event in the park.

Kerry MacLeod from O’Keefe Ranch told council, people will have a chance to see a zebu cow at the park.

“We have a zebu (at the ranch) called Razzle who is like a little darling. He was bottle fed, he’s grey and he has horns. He’s a real unusual cow with a kind of hump on his back, and loves to cuddle.”

The city has agreed to provide liability insurance for the event, which also covers an ATV demonstration and skateboard competition.
