Crews Monitor Vernon Mountain Fire

Fire crews are keeping an eye on a small, but smoky fire on the east side of Vernon Mountain.
The smoke plume is visible from around the area.
BX Swan Lake Fire chief Bill Wacey says it’s an old slash pile that was burning in the early spring that might have reignited.
“It’s actually pretty close to our boundary, but it’s just outside on Crown land. I’ve got a crew of three units up there right now, and we’re waiting for a property rep to get a heavy duty dozer up there to tear away the pile,” Wacey tells Beach Radio News.
