Armstrong Council Agrees With RDNO On Conservation Fund

Jun 13, 2018 | 7:22 AM

Armstrong Council has agreed it will support a regional conservation fund proposed by the RDNO.

The fund would be used for projects supporting environmental conservation and community sustainability.

Mayor Chris Pieper feels it would help with enhancing creeks and wetlands.

“They go through all of our communities. So, It would be good to have a regional approach to solving flooding issues, wetland issues.”

Pieper adds a conservation mind might be suitable with development of the northern rail trail.

He says it would be money well spent.

“I think the advantages on this investment are pretty high. It would give us access to grants and other funding.”

Pieper encourages all municipalities to support it as a regional function that helps the entire North Okanagan.
