Schools Show Support For Humboldt

Apr 12, 2018 | 5:15 PM

There was a huge response to Jersey Day in Canada to show support for Humboldt, and the victims of last Friday’s bus crash.

The response was particularly strong in the Vernon School District.

“Many of our students (past and present) have played in the minor and junior hockey leagues, so our students, parents and teachers cannot help but be saddened by the tragic accident that occurred last week,” says Maritza Reilly, communications coordinator for the Vernon School District. “While it was a simple gesture to wear our jerseys today, we hope the Humboldt community can feel the support coming from around the country and world.”

The idea for people to wear jerseys was started by some BC hockey moms in Langley.

It took place on the day the first of the 16 bus crash victims was laid to rest, with the funeral of the team’s play-by-play announcer Tyler Bieber.
