Trails Closed Due to High Water

Apr 5, 2018 | 4:41 PM

The Regional District  of North Okanagan is closing some local trails temporarily, due to water levels on the rise.

BX Creek Trail — behind BX Dog Park — and BX Creek Falls Trail at Tillicum and Silver Star Roads, have been found to be unsafe for the public to use.

RDNO’s Parks Manager Keith Pinkoski can’t say how long the facilities will be closed, but says they want to ensure the safety of residents and their pets.

“Our staff are monitoring water levels regularly, and will update the public when the trail and park are accessible and safe to use,” says Pinkoski.

Pinkoski says signs have been posted along BX Falls Trail to identify closed sections, and residents can expect signs posted early next week at the back of BX Dog Park, along BX creek.

“Residents are encouraged to follow all notices for their own safety. Failure to do so could lead to harm or danger of anyone who enters the marked area.”

As water continues to rise, residents are reminded to keep a safe distance from streams and creeks until water levels return to normal.

Residents can receive instant updates on trail conditions by subscribing to the RDNO email list at www.rdno.ca/subscribe.
