RFP To Go Out Soon For Pat Duke Reno

Now that Lumby has received infrastructure money to go along with other funds raised to renovate Pat Duke arena, work on the plan is moving ahead.

Mayor Kevin Acton says the ideas on how it will look are being tweaked.

“Those ideas are going to come back to the board, the White Valley Parks Rec and Cultural board for final approval and then the RFP’s going to be sent out.”

He hopes that will happen within the next month.

Lumby was awarded up to two and a half million dollars in Federal Gas Tax Funds a couple of weeks ago to go along with other funding for the facelift.

Kevin Acton says construction likely won’t start until after Lumby Days.

“When we applied for the grant there was certain specific things that we asked for, so it’ll look pretty much like what we asked for. We’re just going to get  things a little bit finer detail for the quote.”

The upgrade includes renovating the current change rooms and adding a changing room for females as well making the facility safer and energy efficient.

He’s hopeful the renovations can be done before the fall.

“It’s going to really depend on what’s out there for who wants to bid and what the prices are like construction wise. We’re not just going to probably go with the first round of bidding if the prices are crazy. We know that construction companies are high.”

Acton says the price needs to fit the project and he has no problem going to a second round of RFP’s if need be.
