Bikers & Pedestrians Advised To ‘Be Seen’

Mar 14, 2018 | 11:00 AM

The arrival of spring brings more cyclists and pedestrians onto roads and pathways.

The City of Vernon is reminding cyclists, walkers and joggers to make themselves visible, especially in low-light, by using lights, and wearing bright reflective clothing.

Drivers are reminded to be on the look-out for pedestrians and cyclists, especially around intersections and in low light.

“Pay attention. Avoid distracted driving, including texting, and watch for vehicles slowing down around you as they may be yielding to a pedestrian. Follow traffic signals rather than pedestrian signals, which aren’t always timed to traffic lights. Make eye contact with pedestrians and cyclists,” says a City news release.
