Arson Trial Set For Fall

Mar 7, 2018 | 1:31 PM

A trial date has been set for a Vernon man facing 19 counts of arson.

56 year old William Munton will be tried by a judge and jury in BC Supreme Court in Vernon starting October 1, 2018, and is scheduled for 14 days.

Munton was arrested in 2016 after a series of deliberately-set fires in the Vernon area in 2014, one of them destroying the grandstands at Kin Race Track.

Munton applied to have his trial moved to Kelowna in January, but that was dismissed by a BC Supreme Court judge, with details covered by a publication ban.
