Vernon Teen Group Stages Protest Today to Address Homelessness in Vernon

Mar 3, 2018 | 10:57 AM

Today at noon a small but focused group of Vernon teens called Canadian Youth For Change will be staging a protest at City Hall. The purpose of this demonstration is to draw attention to the homeless situation plaguing our city.

Kieran Grandbois, spokesperson for the group was asked why now…as the problem has been prevalent for many years.

His response was ” We just simply thought that we would have received, more or less, a politicians response, which means that the question would have been addressed but nothing would have been directly solved.

Grandbois went on to say “And so therefore on that note, we decided to make the decision that we were going to stage a protest outside of City Hall to hopefully send the message to our politicians both local and Provincial, that Vernon demands change”

The protest outside City Hall is scheduled to begin at noon today and although their group is predominately young teens, they encourage anybody of any age who thinks homelessness in Vernon needs to be addressed to participate.
