Survey Checks Out Business Climate & Outlook

Mar 2, 2018 | 2:18 PM

The economic outlook for Greater Vernon will be gauged in a new survey.

The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce and Vernon consulting firm MNP are conducting a phone survey of local business leaders for their views.

Chamber General Manager Dione Chambers says they’re looking to talk to 200 people over the next month.

“It’s a bit of a benchmark for us because we haven’t done this before, so it’s really to see where they’re at, what are the factors that are at play right now, and just to give the Chamber as well as MNP an idea of what’s really going on,” Chambers tells CJIB News.

Chambers says the results will be discussed with Chamber members at a breakfast meeting April 26th.

“It’s a really good time to do it I think. The overall feeling right now is still very positive, but there has been a lot of policies that have been introduced in two budgets in the last two weeks that may change that, so it will be interesting to see where businesses are at,” says Chambers.

“We expect the survey will uncover some very useful insights and benchmark data,” says Blair Gronlund, Partner and Business Advisor with MNP Vernon. “This type of localized economic data is not readily available and will be extremely valuable to business and government leaders, as well as organizations that support local businesses like the Chamber and MNP.”
