Icy Roads Take Toll On Drivers

Fresh snow combined with the colder weather has created a not so perfect storm on local roads.

First responders have attended to multiple motor vehicle accidents between Vernon and Oyama on Highway 97, including three within about one kilometre of each other near Oyama.

There has also been several incidents on Highway 97 North, one on Highway 6 near the Polson Mall, and several others in the city.

No serious injuries are believed to have resulted but the cause for most of them is believed to be black ice and slippery roads, along with motorists going too fast for the conditions.
