House Fire Investigation Concludes

Feb 21, 2018 | 1:13 PM

Fire officials have completed an investigation into the cause of a house fire in Armstrong that left a family of six homeless.

The home in Highland Park sustained significant damage from the Friday night blaze, but everyone got out safely.

Armstrong’s fire prevention officer Lawrie Skolrood says they were unable to officially pinpoint the cause, which will be listed as undetermined.

“It started outside in the carport and progressed up into the soffits and then into the house,” Skolrood tells CJIB News.

Skolrood says he couldn’t find any evidence that the cause was suspicious.

The home was insured, but the family is said to have lost most of their belongings.

“The top floor is pretty much gutted. They (the family) were in the family room in the basement at the time of the fire, so the bottom pat seems to be pretty much intact,” states Skolrood.
