Lake Country Delays Pool Plan Until 2019

Feb 16, 2018 | 7:11 AM

Lake Country may get a new indoor swimming pool yet.

Council this week agreed to move a 50 thousand dollar study on the pool to next year’s budget.

Mayor James Baker says they may not have to spend all that money.

” We have a group of citizens who are  keen to form a citizen’s committee to do the investigation to see how far along we can get.”

Baker hopes the pool could be built in collaboration with UBCO’s medical faculty

“We’re talking at a kind of heated medical therapy type as a part of it.”

Baker says the district could apply for grants from Build Canada or the Western Diversification Program.

The pool would be located on the UBCO lands and the university and district would share the operating costs.
