Mike says the problem with hard cover books is the binding.

Plastic film in itself poses a different issue.

“Plastic film is very, very light. It is a problematic commodity so excluding these from our bins will be a benefit to our processor as well.”

You can still drop them off hard cover books and plastic film at Recycle BC Depots in Vernon, Armstrong and Lumby.

Danallanko says the market is evolving and there may be more changes coming.

He says it’s his understanding a lot of material is sitting waiting for a home.

The public is reminded to be aware of what is acceptable and not in recycling and keep contaminants out of your recycling.

He says if that can be managed, the markets would be more receptive to our material.
