Improved Air Quality

Nov 8, 2017 | 11:19 AM

The air quality in Lavington is improving.

The Environment Ministry has ended an air quality advisory issued on Monday for the community in Coldstream.

Meteorologist Tarek Ayeache says changing weather conditions are expected to further improve the air quality the next few days.

He says the previous high levels of fine particulates are now decreasing and below advisory levels.

“Sources of fine particulates that may have contributed to the past air quality episode include wood smoke (wood stoves and/or open burning), emissions from industry as well as transportation (such as automobiles, trucks and rail traffic),” says Ayache. “Any reduction in emissions from those sources will contribute to cleaner air in Lavington.”

An air quality advisory issued for Vernon Tuesday remains in effect.
