Highway Closed For Police Incident
Part of Highway 5 is closed in Kamloops due to what RCMP are calling a high risk police operation.
A woman says she heard gunshots and saw a police vehicle ram someone trying to escape from the G and M mobile home park on Highway 5 North near Sun Rivers.
Police are requesting that the residents of the trailer park “remain inside their residences, with doors locked.”
The Tk’emlups School has been placed on lockdown.
RCMP say they are looking for an individual with a gun.
Mounties say there is “significant police presence on hand,” including the Emergency Response Team and local detachment resources.
“The public is asked to avoid the area, to allow police the opportunity to safely resolve this matter,” says RCMP Cpl Jodi Shelkie. “We are are asking the public not to share any information about
specific police activities or locations on social media.”
Highway 5 is shut down in both directions at Mt. Paul Way and Valleyview exchange. Motorists are also advised to avoid this area.
