Update: Hwy 1 Reopens After Rock Slide

UPDATE: 12:30 pm

Good news for travellers as the Trans Canada has reopened between Revelstoke and Golden.

That section had been closed since last night due to a rock slide.

Drive BC says a geotech assessment is now complete, work has progressed well, and the anticipated time of opening has been advanced to 12:30 PM.

The Trans Canada Highway is closed from Revelstoke to Golden because of a rock slide.

Geotechnical Engineers will be out this morning to assess the site.

Until then, there`s no indication how long the route will be down.

There is no alternate route available in  the area.

No details are available on the extent of the slide nor if any vehicles were caught in it.
