Tree Removal At Kin Beach

A few trees deemed potentially dangerous at Kin Beach are going to be cut down.

RDNO Board Chair Bob Fleming says directors agreed to the move at Wednesday’s meeting after seeing an arborist’s report.

“You know, with the flooding I think some of the trees were affected out there. Maybe destabilized roots and so on. I’m not sure of the arborists assessment but they felt it was urgent enough it had to be dealt with.”

The work is expected to get underway shortly.

The Okanagan Indian Band had earlier removed trees at neighbouring Sandy Beach.

Meanwhile, Fleming says there are a number of trees within the District’s park system that have to be looked at.

“There’s a program through the Municipal Insurance Association that we’re taking advantage of where they’ll come in and help with the audit. They’re looking at liability risk.”

Fleming says park staff and an arborist would go through the region to see what trees need to be handled.

That could take place over the next year.
