Day Of Difference

Oct 19, 2017 | 9:52 AM

Interior Savings is Credit Union Day in Canada by closing its branches today so that its employees can go out and help build what what they call a wave of local good.

It’s called a Day of Difference.

Chief Operating Officer Ted Schisler says about 500 employees are taking part, including helping out at the Upper Room Mission.

“Help prepare and serve a dinner for those less fortunate. So that’s a great example of some of the things we do. We’ll have people out, painting fences, organizing stock at a food bank. We even have some people mucking some stables at a therapeutic riding society”

It’s also offering a total of 10 thousand dollars to members of the public to help make a difference.

“We’re giving a hundred people a hundred bucks to go out and make a difference in their community in their own way. We’ve done this before and had some very great results.”

It’s hoped people will find a thoughtful way of helping someone, be it buying coffee for strangers, donating to a food bank or creating a care box  for someone in need.
