Calgary Murder Suspect Dead After Revelstoke Standoff

Oct 18, 2017 | 5:46 AM

A man is dead after an afternoon long standoff with RCMP in Revelstoke yesterday.

It began just before 1:30 when Mounties stopped a car matching the description of a vehicle that may have been connected to a Calgary homicide.

The driver was considered armed and dangerous and he refused to come out of the vehicle.

The immediate area was evacuated while for over 5 hours police attempted to communicate with the suspect.

Just after 6 pm, ERT officers set off a noise diversion device to try to get some response from the driver.

When that didn’t happen, they approached the vehicle and found the man with critical injuries.

He was given medical assistance but died at the scene.

The BC Corner’s office and The Independent Investigations Office are now handling the investigation into the incident.
