Rescue On Silver Star

Vernon Search and Rescue came to the rescue of a large family from Europe who got lost while exploring the Silver Star area.

Two adults, eight children and a cat embarked on a hike on the Armstrong side of the mountain Tuesday afternoon.

A few hours later they became disoriented as it began to get dark.

Search and rescue says with the weather deteriorating and the temperature dropping, search teams used ATVs to scour the area, finding the family cold and lost west of Proctor Lake.

They were then taken back to Vernon to warm up,  and admitted they were not prepared for the conditions.
