Man In Custody After Hospital Doors Rammed

Jul 25, 2017 | 6:56 AM

A man from Ontario is facing charges after the doors to the ambulance emergency entrance of Vernon Jubilee Hospital were rammed by a vehicle Sunday morning, July 23rd.

Nobody was injured during the incident just after 4:30 am.

Officers from Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP arrived to find a Chevrolet Cruze with BC licence plates had rammed the doors.

Hospital Security advised the officers that the driver had left the vehicle and had broken into an administrative building on the hospital property by smashing a window.

That area of the building wasn’t occupied at the time.

RCMP searched the building and found a suspect hiding in a room.

They say furniture and other equipment had been damaged.

The hospital closed circuit security footage was seized and reviewed by investigators.

It was later confirmed that the vehicle used was stolen from Winnipeg on July 17th and the BC licence plate found on the vehicle was also stolen.

Fourty-four year old Christian Talbot of Thunder Bay Ontario was held in custody and to date is charge with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and mischief.
