Jul 24, 2017 | 9:45 AM

Vernon Search and Rescue had to be called out late yesterday afternoon to help a hiker on the Enderby Cliffs.

Search Manager Pete Wise says the team went out just after 5 pm.

“He had a possible broken ankle. He was about three, three and a half kilometres up the trail. So we dispatched out team. We had sixteen members on the callout”

The rescue team’s helicopter was also called in.

“The rescue team and the ground team arrived at about the same time. We packaged the subject and got him onboard the helicopter and brought him down the mountain to the waiting ambulance.”

This was all done during the windstorm that hit the region last evening.

“:There was just a little bit of a lull, enough they could get in there and winch the guy up. They sent down the heli-winch team. the heli-winch team winched him up into the helicopter and they flew him down to the awaiting ambulance.”

The ground team was able to walk out.
