Tip Line Set-Up For Wildfire Info

Jul 21, 2017 | 12:28 PM

RCMP have set up a dedicated tip line to learn more about the cause of last weekend’s Okanagan Centre wildfire in Lake Country.

Police say a team of officers continue to investigate the July 15th blaze which officials say was human caused, with speculation it may have been from a campfire.

It led to eight homes and an outbuilding being destroyed.

“Resources from Lake Country, Kelowna and the South East District area have been pooled to conduct an in-depth investigation and fully determine the cause of the fire,” says Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

“At this time we are treating this fire as suspicious and believe it to be human caused,” says the corporal. “As is the case with many investigations it is information from the public that solves them.”

Anyone with information on the fire is asked to contact the RCMP at 250 707 8025.
