Coldstream Helps Fight Wildfires

Jul 19, 2017 | 11:10 AM

Some members of the Coldstream Fire Department are helping with the wildfires near 150 Mile House.

Coldstream Council this week held a special meeting to approve that.

Mayor Jim Garlick some members and a truck have already gone.

“It’s been out for a week to fight the wildfires, a bush truck that we have. Some of our volunteers went and a bush truck, and they’re being used by the province at this time.”

Garlick says the District won’t be left in jeopardy.

“It’s a process of sort of balancing the risks but making sure that we’re taking care of things at home and allowing to help others because we could be in the same boat here.”

The deployment is on a week – to week basis.

Another truck may go as well.

“We were also looking at a second line pumper that we have, and it going out. I’m not sure if it’s going to go out as a replacement for that truck, the bush truck, or if it will go out as an additional resource.”

Garlick says crews can be recalled at any time if needed back home.

The province is paying for the salaries and use of the equipment
