Vernon Air Quality Index Rated High Risk

Jul 17, 2017 | 7:16 AM

The Environment Ministry says the Air Quality Index in Vernon and the North Okanagan is rated at 7 on a scale out of 10.

That puts it at the low end of the high risk area.

The Ministry forecasts the index to remain there for the rest of the rest of the day and tomorrow, primarily due to smoke particles in the air.

The smoke is drifting in from other regions, including Lake Country.

It is recommended that people with compromised health conditions reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors.

Children and the elderly should also take it easy.

People in the general population should consider reducing or rescheduling strenuous activities outdoors if you experience symptoms such as coughing and throat irritation.
