Update: 11:45 pm

Eleven more properties have been removed from the fire evacuation order in Lake Country.

The sites are undeveloped properties on the southern border on Tyndall Road.It leaves 58 properties still evacuated.

“An Evacuation Order remains in place for Nighthawk Road, Long Road and Tyndall Road from south of 10810 to the end of the pavement,” says a RDCO release. “Jack Seaton Park remains closed. Eleven large, undeveloped properties on the gravel portion of Tyndall Road are no longer on evacuation order.”

No evacuation alerts are in place at this time.

Firefighters working against the Okanagan Centre fire continue tackling hot spots within the containment zone.

Fire Chief Steve Windsor tells Kiss -FM the overnight crew had to deal with a flare up on the south boundary.

“Forest Service brought in a helicopter and did some bucketing on it. They had a crew of about 30 firefighters on scene overnight. We had structural crews on overnight.”

Windsor says that flare up did not threaten any homes.

“But it got into some unburnt fuels. It got very windy here last night and I guess it just picked it up on that because that would be on the west facing slope looking towards Okanagan Lake.”

He says it probably looked pretty spectacular from the other side of the lake, but crews beat it down quickly.

Now, It’s a lot of ground work against the fire.

“Trying to get all these hot spots that are kind of all over the place. They’re fairly visible. We’re seeing smoke and that still but it’s just a lot of work on the ground now.”

Sixty -nine homes remain under an evacuation order.
