Vernon: Horsepower Heaven This Weekend

Jul 15, 2017 | 9:42 AM

Vernon will be all about thousands of horses this weekend…horsepower that is. It’s the Sun Valley Cruise In and it’s one of the most popular spectator events of the year.

It goes today and tomorrow featuring some of the hottest vehicles to ever roll down the road.

There’s a scenic cruise through the back-country roads of Spallumcheen kicking off at Watkin Motors at 2 this afternoon. Car enthusiasts will see them pass through Grindrod, Enderby and Armstrong.

There’s an open invitation to slide your wheels into the parade of classic vehicles anywhere along the route.

Then it’s back to Vernon where the car show continues from 4-9 p.m. downtown as they close off 5 blocks of 30th. Ave. to get up close and personal with the classics and ask the owners questions.

Please be respectful of these prized rides as people have spent thousands of dollars on their paint jobs as well as accessories.

Then tomorrow afternoon, the action shifts to Polson Park for another show and shine on the grass from 10-3 where some 400 cars are expected to be on display.

Kiss-FM’s Frank Martina will be joining the likes of Elvis for some on-site entertainment.

Just so long as they don’t get their roles mixed up…Elvis tells jokes…and Frank sings Elvis songs.

Proudly supported by KISS-FM
