New Parking Lot Soon To Open At Kal Tire Place

Work is underway on preparing to remove part of the back parking lot at Kal Tire Place.

That, of course, is to prepare the land for the expansion to the arena.

The new lot in the front of the building has yet to open.

The city’s Director of Recreation Services, Doug Ross, says that shouldn’t be long now

” We’ve been hampered a bit by the weather, but the pavement is all been put down and curbing was done. We’re just waiting for some finishing work and some landscaping work to be done to finish the project.”

The lot will add fourty-eight new parking stalls to the site.

” Because we’re doing a transition, we’re moving some disabled parking stalls from the existing parking lot over to the new parking lot. Those existing disable spaces will be recaptured as regular parking spaces.”

Ross says it’s possible the project will be done in the next couple of weeks.
