O’Leary Will ‘Shake Up The Field’

Jan 23, 2017 | 10:11 AM

Some call him the Canadian version of Donald Trump  — but Kevin O’Leary insists he’s different.
The businessman and TV personality is the newest of 14 candidates seeking the Conservative leadership.
North Okanagan Shuswap MP Mel Arnold says O’Leary has already got people talking about the race.
“I think Mr. O’Leary entering the race is going to shake up the field for sure and probably bring a lot more attention to it. I hope the field is going to narrow down soon so that we can focus on who the real leaders are, and we can focus on the   big issues,” Arnold tells Kiss FM.

Arnold, a first term Conservative from Salmon Arm, says he will wait to hear more about the candidate’s platforms before making his choice.

“There is still less than a handful that I am looking to as favorites, but I’m not prepared to say who at this point. I’m giving them all a fair chance to lay out their platforms and show us what they plan to do in 2019.”

Conservatives will choose their new leader May 27.
