Emergency Service Day at Silver Star

Jan 20, 2017 | 11:52 AM

The third annual Silver Star Emergency Services Day is tomorrow.
The all-day event honours first responders, while nine of the Vernon area’s Emergency Service teams will be putting on skills demonstrations.
Brad Baker, Silver Star Director of Operations says the day if very educational for everyone.
“It’s always good to know what the abilities of the rescuers and those that come to help us in critical situations are.”
Baker says a lot of the presentations are incident prevention events.
“There will be CPR demos, there’ll be snow cave demos, avalanche beacon demos, probe line demos, just a lot of good information to take with you that will prevent you from getting into an incident where somebody has got to come and help you.”
Baker says no one wants to be involved in or witness an accident….so this day helps educate everyone.
It draws attention for sure, but this is more to draw attention to the level of commitment and level of skill and the resources that are available to the first responders in our area.”
Silver Star is donating $20 from every lift ticket sold tomorrow (Saturday) to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
