City Outlines Major Projects

Jan 19, 2017 | 10:38 AM

Vernon residents have a chance to check out and provide input on the major capital projects the city has planned this year.

A public meeting will take place at the Vernon Recreation Centre auditorium next Wednesday, January 25th from 5 – 7 p.m.
City Infrastructure engineer Mark Dowhaniuk says 2.8 million dollars is budgeted for an upgrade to Kalamalka Lake Road.
“That project is the addition of a four metre wide multi use path on the west side, from 14th Avenue to the city boundary down by the Alpine Centre,” Dowhaniuk tells Kiss FM.
Dowhaniuk says another project will continue the upgrade to 30th Street, which started last year.
“We went from Polson Park roughly up to 29th Avenue, and the project this year will continue all the way up to the fire hall and City Hall.”
The other major project in the plans is the 35th Avenue Reconstruction.
“We’re just trying to give the public and particularly the adjacent residents and businesses an opportunity to see the current plans for the year,” add Dowhaniuk on the upcoming meeting.
