December 24, 1944 – August 6, 2020
Lenard (Len) James Willick, 75, passed away suddenly in his home on August 6, 2020.
Len was born in Shaunavon, SK, and later settled in Trail, BC. There, he started his 35 year career working in Cominco Mines, which he retired from in March of 2000.
A great fan of hockey, he held season tickets to go and cheer on the Trail Smoke Eaters Hockey Club. He also very much enjoyed curling at the Trail Curling Club, and was an avid golfer, golfing 4 days each week with his best friends, Pat Patterson, Tony Derosa, and Dave McKessock, at the Birchbank Golf Club.
Lenard was predeceased by his father, Clemens (2004), mother, Astrid (2006), brother, George (1994), brother-in-law, Simon (2005).
He is survived by his sister, Valerie St. Onge, sister-in-law, Sally Willick (Colin Lawson), nephew, Kevin Willick, nieces Cindy (Michael) Kennedy, Ceccilia (Dennis) Keen, Donna Desjarlais, Louise Desjarlais (Rob McLaughlin), and Ericka Desjarlais, four great nephews; Alexander, Cole, Thomas and Landon, three great nieces; Tsedunla (Makayla), Teghan and Jessaint, and many loving friends and extended family members.
Len will be greatly missed and fondly remembered (especially for his incredibly loving nature, devotion to family, and silly one-liners) by all who knew him. At his request, there will be no funeral, but instead, he will be cremated and laid to rest beside his parents in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Vernon, BC, this year, with a Celebration of Life being held next year when travel restrictions have been eased and larger gatherings are allowed.
At the family’s request, donations in lieu of flowers can be made in his name to the BC Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, Phone: 250-542-4333
