The family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Paul Stanislas Tessier on March 17, 2021, after a very short battle with Lymphoma. Paul was born on March 1, 1952 in Snow Lake, Manitoba and grew up on the Tessier farm near St. Louis, Saskatchewan.
At a very young age, Paul became fascinated with the announcers’ voices on the radio. He began mimicking the voices he heard while introducing records on the record player. After graduating from high school, Paul set off to the Lethbridge Community College in Alberta for a 2-year Radio Arts course. He began working part time at CHEC Radio in Lethbridge. After the first year was over, Paul was offered full time work and did not return to the college for the second year. He worked five years in Lethbridge with subsequent stops in the radio business in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Winnipeg, Manitoba and 2 stints in both Drumheller and Brooks, Alberta.
At the age of 40, now living in Vernon, BC, Paul decided to pursue higher education. He went to university full time for 4 years, graduating from the Social Work program in 1996. He worked with Problem Gamblers and their families for 15 years. He rounded up his career working as a Mental Health and Addictions counselor at the Vernon First Nations Friendship Centre.
Paul is survived by his son Kasen, his sister Sylvia Lavoie, niece Bernadette Lavoie, nephew Greg Doucette and numerous cousins. He will be remembered by many good friends including those in the Fiver group, the radio business and the Vernon Folk Roots Music Society. We are planning a memorial service for Paul, and it will be held as soon as soon as the health regulations allow us to do so.
Arrangements in care of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, Vernon, B.C. 250-542-4333.
