Mary Frances Patricia Rath (Reisenburg) – Lovingly known by all as Pat, beloved wife of Gerald Rath, passed away on January 31, 2021. Born in Dawson Creek, BC she was the daughter to the late Calvin (Joe) and Theresa (McCarthy) Reisenburg.
She graduated from Nursing School in Montreal, QC with her RN designation. Pat was a kind loving person who had a long career as a nurse, working with many Montreal area hospitals including the Jewish General Hospital, the Montreal Children’s Hospital and the Montreal General Hospital. She later graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree before moving to St. Albert, AB where she worked in home care. Pat continued her nursing service in home care and hospice in Vernon, BC before retiring in 2011.
A voracious reader, she thoroughly enjoyed her book clubs. She was also passionate about art – and took up painting once she had moved to BC. She loved cooking, gardening, playing cards and had many longtime loved and cherished friends.
Left with a lifetime of wonderful memories, Pat is survived by her husband Gerald Rath (formerly of Truro NS and Brossard QC), daughter Janice (Peter Stathopoulos) of Calgary, AB and cherished grandchildren Meagan and Justin. She is also survived by sisters Nancy (Stephen Hug) of Prince Albert, SK, and Cindy (Nick Thompson) of Stittsville, ON and brother Gerard (Lisa) of Bracebridge, ON along with many dear nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Perrier and staff, the oncology teams at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital and the Kelowna General Hospital and to the Home Care and Community Service teams at Interior Health.
Due to current COVID restrictions a private event will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
