August 13, 1929 – July 5, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Nobuko Kawazoe at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband Misao in 1977. She is survived by her daughters Nancy and Lisa, both of Vancouver, and numerous relatives in Japan. She was the eldest of three sisters and two brothers, and lived in Hiroshima until she came to Canada in 1963 to join her husband. She was a long time Coldstream resident and could often be found thoroughly enjoying her piece of paradise. She was known for her dressmaking skills, having trained in Japan, and made beautiful clothes that were truly special and one of kind.
Mom was a beautiful and fiery soul who touched many lives and never lost that stubborn spirit that kept her going. She cherished her independence and did everything in her power to keep it for as long as possible. She loved her home, her plants, and her flowers which occasionally took over every available surface. She was always ready with a smile and a laugh. She took such joy in the everyday, marveled at the ordinary, and simply hated a fuss. Knowing that she is at peace and free of pain is a great comfort as are the many stories and memories of her that were so eagerly shared. We know that she was loved.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial, and request no koden. Should anyone wish to honour her memory, we ask that a donation be made to the Gateby Care Centre.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff of Gateby Care Centre 2 North for their dedication in caring for Mom. She will be deeply missed.
