It is with extreme sadness we announce the passing of Marie “Annette” Demers on February 19, 2021.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Adelard, as well as their 2 sons, Gerald and Denis. Annette is survived by her loving children: Colette (John), Gilles (Jeannine), Suzanne (Robert), Marcel (Susan), Lynne (Len), 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Annette was born in Welland, Ontario on April 6, 1928. Here is where she met the love of her life, a cowboy from out west that swept her off her feet with his voice and his dance moves. They married on October 6, 1951 and had 7 children.
In 1971, Annette, Adelard and the kids moved to Falher, Alberta where they invested in the restaurant business. Annette was a hard-working lady. It was not unusual for her to work double, triple and sometimes quadruple shifts cooking at their 24-hour restaurant while raising all the kids. Life was not easy, but Annette managed. She was our “Rock”.
In 1982, and after the loss of their youngest son, Annette, Adelard and their youngest daughter moved to Vernon where Annette enjoyed a well-deserved retirement.
Annette cherished family times. She loved getting together for dinner, playing games, or just chatting. She also had a passion for cooking, often watching cooking shows and collecting cookbooks. Annette enjoyed the outdoors and would often join her adult children on camping trips. She also loved travelling or even just going out for a drive.
Her warm smile and caring ways will be deeply missed by many who knew her. Donations in Annette’s memory can be made to the Heart & Stroke foundation or any charity of your choice.
A virtual Celebration of Life is being planned for this summer.
