October 27 1936 – September 28 2020
Donna Blois passed away at Vernon Jubilee Hospital after a short illness. Donna was a beloved wife of Barry for 58 years and proud mother to Darren and Stephen. She was born in Port Alberni, BC to Oliver and Elsie Krog. She was the oldest of three, being predeceased by her sister Maureen and survived by her brother, Brian.
Donna attended UBC where she met Barry. She and Barry wed in 1962 in Richmond, BC, and moved to Vernon in 1965 where they started their family.
Donna was very active in her church and community. She was a driving force in the creation of Vernon Hospice. She attended Trinity United Church. Donna loved golf, curling, fishing, and later in life took up lawn bowling.
Donna and Barry enjoyed travelling together, whether in an RV or on a cruise ship. Having her boys spread throughout Canada she was fortunate to spend much time on both coasts as well as Central Canada.
Donna’s greatest pride were her wonderful daughters-in-law and the grandchildren she was blessed with. Darren’s wife Tanya, and daughters Alyssa and Ella, and Stephen’s family, Sherry, Scott, and Brent.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital for the care and support they provided during Donna’s last days. Particular thanks to Dr. Mike Murphy, Donna’s family doctor for many years.
Donations may be sent to Vernon Hospice in lieu of flowers. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who were lucky enough to have been part of her life.
“It is good to have an end to the journey, but it is the journey that matters in the end”.
