Delbert Irven Fulgham was carried away in the arms of Jesus to be with the Lord on January 20, 2021 at the amazing age of 101 years.
Del was born in Provost, Alberta in 1919 to parents Irven and Carolyne Fulgham, one of 5 children. Growing up on the homestead during the depression years was difficult, and losing his father at an early age, forced the responsibility of looking after his family onto Del.
Del later joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, and was conscripted into military service during World War II at the young age of 24.
Del and his loving wife Ida, of 62 years, farmed grain, cows and pigs while raising two daughters, in Paradise Valley, Alberta, for nearly 23 years.
In 1983 Del and Ida retired to Vernon to be closer to family. They did some travelling to Hawaii and Alaska and the Queen Charlottes and enjoyed bowling, and belonging to community organizations.
Sadly Ida passed away in 2005, but Del carried on, finding comfort in his church and family.
In 2019 Del moved to Heritage Square, where he could be found listening to the Bible or gospel music on his headset. In July Del celebrated his 101st birthday, although Covid 19 restrictions hindered his celebration, he still managed to share some birthday cake with fellow residents.
Del is survived by his daughters Eleanore (Bill) Jackson of Edmonton, and Elaine (Sam) Reich of Prince George, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
Del will be remembered for being a very social and hospitable person who loved to be around people, whose faith in God, a positive attitude and hard work were attributed to his longevity.
The family would like to thank Dr. Borchert and the caring staff at Heritage Square for their compassion and kindness to Del in his final years.
Due to Covid restrictions a private family service will be held.
