Bertha Wiebe
May 3, 1939 – May 22, 2020
Bertha passed away peacefully on May 22, 2020 at 81 years of age, with her loving family at her side. She is survived by her loving husband, Jake Wiebe, of 63 years of marriage, her 5 daughters: Brenda Beardsley, Darlene Fuller, Lorna Bergen, Colleen Wiebe and Theresa (Graham) Kroeker. Her grandchildren: Melisa (Jason) Beatty, Jaime (Kirk) Henry, Janeen Spink, Mitchell (Lila) Spink, Michelle Fuller, Clayton Fuller, Logan Fuller, Ryan (Tasha) Bergen, Darcy Bergen, Travis Kroeker, Candice Kroeker and Brittany Kroeker. Her great grandchildren: Blake Beatty, Hannah Beatty, Kyla Henry, Jaiden King, Avery King, Bentley King, Macey-Mai Spink, Loredo Peterson, Alyssa Bergen, Amy Gutteridge, Jade Gutteridge, Trystan Gutteridge.
Bertha was born in Hague, Saskatchewan and grew up with her family of 3 brothers and 9 sisters. The family relocated to Danskin, BC (a small community near Burns Lake, BC) in 1952 and this is where she met her husband to be, Jake Wiebe. They were married in 1957 and started their married life in Danskin, BC and is where they started their family. Their family continued to grow and over time the family enjoyed new experiences while living in several different communities in the central interior of BC. In 2009 they moved to Victoria, BC where they enjoyed the warmer climates and easier winter seasons. 2015 brought them here to Vernon, BC, where Bertha lived out her last years before her final destination.
Bertha was a woman of grace and integrity. She was loving and fun and had the most delightful sense of humour. She loved to find the lighter side to things with her witty little laugh, which was infectious to everyone around her. She lit up the room with her presence of kindness and love.
Gardening, crafting, crocheting and playing games were some of the things she loved besides her god given gift and passion for nurturing her family with her soft, tender and loving approach. She spoiled her family and loved ones with her love for cooking and baking and this brought about many enjoyable moments around the table, talking, laughing and telling stories. She really knew how to make a house a HOME.
Bertha’s unwavering faith in God is what she believed brought her through any difficult and challenging times throughout her life. Her faith in God was as strong as her will to live. Bertha loved life and it truly showed in her ability to overcome adversity as nothing could come between her love for life and her family.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy to live honestly, love deeply, laugh like there is no tomorrow and live to have no regrets. She passed away peacefully and that is a true indication of living a life full of integrity and leaving with no regrets. The family would like to express much appreciation to helpful staff at Heron Grove Assisted Living.
She will be deeply missed but she will never be forgotten. Her legacy is one to live by!
Weary
God saw you getting weary
He did what he thought best
He put his arms around you
And said – Come and Rest
He opened up his golden gates
On that heartbreaking day
And with his arms around you
You gently slipped away
It broke our hearts to lose you
You did not go alone
A part of us went with you
The day God called you home
XOXOXO
Forever in our hearts!
Love from your family
