Remuneration Set For New North Okanagan-Shuswap School Trustees

Anyone running to be a school trustee on the  North Okanagan-Shuswap school board this fall now knows what the salary will be.

Official trustee Mike McKay has approved a staff recommendation for remuneration of 13 and a half thousand dollars for each of the five trustees

The Board Chair will get an extra three thousand while the Vice-Chair will get an extra 1500.

McKay also approved annual adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index.

Those would take effect December 1st of each year, beginning in 2019.

It will be the first election for trustees since the former board was fired in 2016 over financial troubles and a lack of public confidence.

McKay has been running things ever since.
