Update: 1986 Murder Suspect Denied Bail

A suspect in a 32 year old Vernon murder case has been denied bail.

57 year old Parmajit Singh Bogarh had attempted to be released from custody, but Dan McLaughlin from the BC Prosecution Service says the request was denied.

The decision was announced in BC Supreme Court in Vernon this morning.

Bogarh is charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the death of his wife, Saminder Bogarh in Vernon in December 1986.

The suspect will make his next appearance in provincial court August 2nd.

“Mr. Bogarh’s matter remains before the provincial court for preliminary matters including arraignment and potential preliminary inquiry. Bail matters are dealt with in BC Supreme Court given the nature of the charges,” explains McLaughlin in an email to Beach Radio News.

June 28:

A suspect in a more than 30 year old Vernon murder case has made another appearance in provincial court.

Parmajit Singh Bogarh had his charges put over to August 2, with the official reason listed as time to consult legal counsel.

The 57 year old is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the death of his wife, 26 year old Saminder Bogarh, in 1986.

Parmajit Bogarh was charged with murder at the time of the incident, but the charges were stayed due to a lack of evidence.

Parmajit’s brother Narinder Singh Bogarh is also charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder, with BC legal officials trying to have him extradited from India to Canada.
