City & RDNO To Talk Price For Cultural Centre Site

Jun 27, 2018 | 6:40 AM

Local governments will be discussing the price for the site of a proposed cultural centre.

Vernon Mayor Akbal Mund says the city is looking to sell a third of the Vernon Block at 2910 32nd Avenue to the regional district.

“I’m sure the city and the regional district will come to a fair price for that property. It doesn’t have to be full value of it,” Mund tells Beach Radio News.

He says that’s the city’s preferred site for the complex.

“The building would be facing the Gentleman’s Barber Shop, and Jolly Good Spuds, that way.”

City council has given staff approval to start negotiations with RDNO on the site, which is currently a parking lot.

The 40 million dollar facility will be the subject of a RDNO borrowing referendum in October.
