Canada Day Fireworks At Kin Beach

Jun 6, 2018 | 6:15 AM

Vernon’s Canada Day fireworks show will be blasted off from Okanagan Lake for a second straight year.

Show supervisor Terry Schmauder says the show will start at 10:30 on Canada Day night, from four barges a safe distance from Kin Beach.

“I think it’s an excellent viewing area. There’s a natural bowl there and we’ve got viewing from Bella Vista, Bench Road, Commonage, as well as Kin Beach and Paddlewheel Park.”

He’s expecting as good a turnout as last year.

“It was an excellent turnout last year. I think we were, we had a Canada Day show last year whereas Kelowna didn’t. We had people come from all around.”

Schmauder says they have a plan in place to clean-up any fireworks debris.

“We’ve put volunteers in place for shore cleanup as well as surface cleanup. And Innerspace Diving is going to supply dives for any material that sinks.”

Schmauder says they have a slightly lower budget than last year but it will still be spectacular.

Craftsman Collision is back as the title sponsor, and the show will once again be synchronized to music broadcast on Beach Radio.
