State Of Emergency Ends in Armstrong

Flooding concerns appear to be over in Armstrong — at least at this point.

Officials say creek levels continue to decline and the local state of emergency will expire at midnight tonight.

An evacuation alert for 60 homes was lifted on Tuesday.

Emergency program coordinator Warren Smith says creek levels could still rise rapidly with overland flooding if intense weather systems move through the area.

He says the City will continue to work with the public, local governments, the province and federal government on long term flood mitigation efforts including flood mapping, risk assessments, mitigation planning and infrastructure.

Our Mayor and Council, EOC team, Fire Dept. and Public Works crew deserve a gold star for mitigating what could have been a far reaching disaster in comparison to last year’s event.”
